Empowering Change: ISN’s Partnership with Emmaus Bristol to Combat Homelessness

At ISN, we believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back. We are proud to support the vital work of Emmaus Bristol. This remarkable organisation provides comprehensive support to individuals who have experienced homelessness, poverty, and social exclusion.

Emmaus Bristol offers not just a home, but also tailored support, training, and meaningful work experience through its social enterprises.

“We are incredibly grateful to Intuitive Systems & Networks for this generous donation to our homelessness charity. These funds will directly support our work in Bristol, providing people with a home for as long as it’s needed, tailored support, essential supplies including clothing and toiletries, and training and work experience. With this funding, our team can continue to work closely with each person, supporting their recovery from homelessness, helping them achieve their goals, and progress to employment and independent accommodation when they’re ready.”

Jessica Hodge, Chief Executive of Emmaus Bristol

Companions at Emmaus Bristol receive more than just shelter; they gain the skills and confidence needed to rebuild their lives. The organisation’s social enterprises not only generate income but also offer vital work experience, empowering individuals to regain their independence and dignity.

Emmaus Bristol’s main residential building accommodates up to 21 companions, offering private ensuite bedrooms and access to communal facilities like kitchens and lounges. Additionally, the organisation supports families in housing need and provides transitional housing for those ready for more independent living.

The social enterprises run by Emmaus Bristol are central to its mission. These include two shops located in Stokes Croft and Bedminster, an online store via eBay, a house clearance service, and eco-friendly treehouse pods available for tourists to book.

These initiatives not only provide companions with work experience but also contribute to the organisation’s financial sustainability.

The Stokes Croft site serves as the heart of Emmaus Bristol’s operations, featuring a two-story shop, staff offices, workspace for other charities, a warehouse, sorting and recycling facilities, and the eco pods.

This hub of activity is where much of the organisation’s life-changing work takes place.

Emmaus Bristol is committed to supporting people from all backgrounds and beliefs. Their approach is holistic, focusing on empowering individuals, restoring their dignity, and helping them rebuild their lives.
